The micro studio is ideal for homeowners with limited outdoor space. At just 2.5m x 2m, its compact footprint is perfect for creating a quiet home office, hobby room or reading nook, while still leaving plenty of room to enjoy the rest of your garden where space is a concern.
Colour Palette
We have designed our show site micro studio thoughtfully to show how a compact garden room can still feel bright and spacious. We paint all of the rooms in our studio range a crisp white inside, creating a light, airy backdrop. In this studio, we chose a light chestnut flooring and paired it with burnt orange accents to add character and warmth. Then we added floating shelving to draw the eye upwards, making the room feel taller.
Decorations & Furniture
As for the decor choices, we added houseplants to introduce colour (a great biophillic design addition!) as well as adding artwork which incorporates both the oranges and greens in this colour palette. As for the furniture, we kept the design simple with a single chair and desk with one set of floor shelves, leaving plenty of floor space which helps to make the space feel larger inside than what the dimensions suggest.
Design Tip: Maximise Your Vertical Space
In a micro garden studio, we recommend making the most of your wall space. Floating shelves, framed artwork and hanging plants add personality without taking up valuable floor space, while choosing one or two accent colours creates a cohesive, clean look.
2. The Small Studio
If you're looking for a little more flexibility, the small studio offers additional space for a larger desk, extra storage or a comfortable chair. It's an excellent choice if you'll be using your garden room every day, whether that's for working from home, studying or enjoying creative hobbies. At 2.5m x 2.5m, the small studio provides an additional half a metre of depth compared to the micro studio. This can give you more design freedom when positioning your furniture.
Decorations & Furniture
The small studio gives you a little more space for furnishings. Rather than simply fitting in the essentials, you can create a more comfortable and practical layout with a larger desk, ergonomic office chair and additional storage. Alternatively, if you're designing a hobby room or creative studio, the extra floor space allows you to incorporate shelving, a workbench or display units without the room feeling overcrowded.
Design Tip: Create Zones
Even in a small garden studio, thinking about how you'll use the space can make a big difference. Position your desk near the windows to maximise natural light, then use shelving, a rug or a comfortable chair to create a separate area for reading, planning or taking a break. Creating subtle zones helps a smaller studio feel more organised and versatile.
3. The Medium Studio
The medium studio is a versatile garden building option at 3m x 2.5m. Alongside a dedicated workspace, you'll have room for additional furniture, making it ideal for those who want a garden room that can double as a relaxation space and hobby room. Tones & Textures
At our Nottingham show site, our medium-sized studio is designed to showcase how warm, earthy tones can transform a garden building into an inviting living space. We added rich brown leather armchairs and natural oak furniture and chose our hickory wood-effect flooring. As for furnishings and decorations, we opted for textured soft cushions, botanical artwork, houseplants and some metal hardware pieces like a metal table lamp, corner lamp and a metal framed mirror (which helps to create the illusion of a bigger space). By layering textures and materials with a woody, neutral colour palette, you can create a timeless interior that's equally suited to relaxing, reading or catching up with friends.
Design Tip: Create a Cosy Retreat
To achieve this warm, welcoming look, combine natural materials with earthy colours. Leather or tan armchairs pair beautifully with oak furniture and wood-effect flooring, while botanical artwork, textured cushions and indoor plants soften the space and add character. Layering different textures rather than lots of colours helps create a timeless interior that feels cosy all year round!
4. Large Studio
If you need more room while seeking affordable luxury, the large studio could be for you. Measuring 3.5m x 2.5m, it gives you plenty of scope to get creative, and the extra floor space means you can move beyond the essentials. Whether you're running a business or creating space for creative pursuits, you can create a large space ideal for you and your outdoor area.
Decorations & Furniture
With more room to work with, you can start experimenting with larger furniture and bolder design choices. At 4m x 2.5m you can introduce a comfortable sofa, shelving and decorative accessories to create a space you love spending time in, all the while not overwhelming your outdoor area.
Our show site demonstrates how a simple, modern colour palette can make a garden studio feel bright and inviting. The soft grey furniture provides a timeless base that can easily be updated with colourful accessories. We used mustard yellow cushions, throws and artwork to really bring warmth and personality to the studio. We also added houseplants and natural textures to soften the space and create a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. The result is a garden studio that feels every bit as stylish and comfortable as a room inside the house!
Design Tip: Choose Your Accent Colour
Choose one accent colour, such as mustard yellow, sage green or navy blue, and repeat it through cushions, throws, artwork and accessories. This creates a cohesive look that's easy to refresh as your style (or the season) changes.
