Jemma's Garden Office & Family Room

At the bottom of Jemma and Darren’s garden in Stamford sits their 8.4m x 3.0m garden office & family room. How do you use your new Garden Office & Family Room?

"I wanted to have a space that I could work from, but also that we could use as a movie area — and set up as a bedroom if needed. I work in here all day, every day, with my dog. My son uses it for watching TV. We also have friends round, and I meet my neighbour in here every morning for coffee. It’s just used constantly!"

What was the design process like?


"So when I decided that I was going to buy a cabin from Cabin Master, I knew I needed specific things such as side windows or doors to get out to my patio. But then, when I went along to the Nottingham show site, I had a chat with Simon and some of the cabins he showed me had additional side rooms, some of them actually had toilets in them. I hadn't even thought of a toilet so we added a toilet to the design as well."

 "We agreed on a non-maintenance Marley-clad back and sides, and then we've had the redwood on the front. When we were looking at what size to get, we wanted our garden room to fill the space but not fill the whole patio. Cabin Master helped me decide which was the best size to have for the space that we had to fill."

How has your Garden Office & Family Room Improved WFH & Family Life?

"My commute to work is only 10 steps. With my garden room, my work-life balance is perfect! When I'm working during holidays or school time, family life isn't disrupted. I can be in here working and my son can be at home safe, playing or having his friends around. If I’ve got meetings, I can shut the door and it’s private. During the summer, I can open all the windows and it’s just like working in the garden. It’s just become a wow-factor part of the house, and everyone loves it."

"The fitting team were here installing our garden office/family room for just a week.
