“Our guests love it. It’s quirky, it’s different, it has beautiful views and it is booking well.”
Langar Hall is a small, privately run hotel and restaurant situated in the village of Langar in Nottinghamshire. Imogen Skirving’s family has owned the country house since 1860 and over the last 25 years the house has evolved into a small, quirky, award winning hotel. The hotel has 11 rooms in the main house plus a chalet and a Camping Pod known affectionately as ‘The Pod’ on the croquet lawn.
The challenge was to install more accommodation to meet the demand for bookings. Langar needed something that would fit with the beautiful natural surroundings and that could be fitted out to a high specification to reflect the quality and standard of the rooms and restaurant in the main house. The accommodation needed to be self-contained, with a shower room, heating and the same comforts as offered from the hotel rooms.
An internet search lead Imogen and the team at Langar to the Cabin Master website and from there they went to visit the Ilkeston showsite. Cabin Master built a ‘Glamper’ for Langar Hall. The Glamper being the top of the range Camping Arch available from Cabin Master. A shower room was built in, other than that it was supplied empty so Langar could fit the unit out themselves with stand-alone furniture of their choice. This enabled them to use furniture and accessories that carried the quality values of the hotel through to the cabin. Imogen said “we are delighted with the pod, as we call it, it’s a super addition to the hotel and it is very popular with the guests.”
The cabin was delivered and installed on site on the 1st August 2014. Within days it was ready for its first guests. The main source of bookings was from customers enquiring to stay at the hotel and being told about the new cabin. The details of the cabin were also added onto the main hotel and restaurant website and in time it will feature in the hotel brochure.
The Glamper Arch was a direct investment for the business. Imogen said “the cabin is currently occupied 3/4 nights a week. The rate per night is £109 which includes use of the hotel facilities and a full breakfast in our restaurant. The cabin will pay back within 8–9 months at this rate.”
Imogen said “we have no plans at present for anymore cabins, however, we are very pleased with the pod and if we did need any more we would be in touch with Cabin Master.”
